Refund and cancellation policy
This policy describes how refunds and cancellations work for services from Jace Okolowitz, operating as Jace Okolowitz Web Design. It is meant to be fair to both you and me: you get clear rules, and I can protect time already spent on custom work.
Website build ($1,200 total)
The build is paid in two parts: a 50% deposit ($600) after we agree on scope in writing, and the remaining 50% ($600) when you approve the finished site for launch, as described on the main site.
Before you pay the deposit
- If no payment has been made, there is nothing to refund.
Deposit ($600)
- Twenty-four (24) hour window: If you cancel in writing within twenty-four (24) hours of paying the deposit and I have not started custom design or development, I will refund your full deposit.
- If more than twenty-four hours pass before I begin custom work, you may still cancel in writing for a full deposit refund up until the moment I start that work.
- Once I have started custom work (for example, a first full draft or other agreed kickoff deliverable), the deposit is non-refundable, including if that happens within the same twenty-four hours. It covers time and work already invested.
- If you stop responding or withdraw after work has started, the deposit is still non-refundable. The balance ($600) is only due when you approve the site for launch; if the project never reaches that point, the balance is not charged, subject to any separate agreement we document in writing.
Balance ($600) and after launch approval
- The balance is due when you approve the site for launch, consistent with our agreement and the published process.
- After you have approved the site for launch and paid the balance, payments are generally non-refundable, because the project is treated as complete for the agreed scope.
Partial work and files if you cancel mid-project
- If you cancel after work has started, I do not automatically provide work-in-progress or source files. Anything beyond that would be discussed in writing case by case (for example, if we mutually agree to end the project).
Disputes and revisions
Your project includes two structured revision rounds on the agreed written scope, as described on the main site. Refunds are not a substitute for using those rounds. If you want work outside the agreed scope, it may be quoted separately.
If we both agree in writing to cancel mid-project, any partial refund of the deposit would be exceptional and stated explicitly in that agreement. Otherwise, the rules above apply.
Monthly care plan ($99/month)
- You may cancel the care plan for future billing periods. Cancellation stops the next charge; it does not automatically refund the current period once that period has started or service for that month has been provided.
- If you cancel the care plan, you will receive the latest version of your website files as described in the site FAQ, so you or another provider can host or maintain the site.
Professional photography add-on ($300)
- If you cancel before a shoot is scheduled or a photographer is booked for your session, the photography fee is refunded in full.
- Once the shoot is booked or completed, the photography fee is non-refundable. If the photographer cancels, we will reschedule or refund the photography fee, whichever applies.
Chargebacks and payment issues
If you have a concern about a charge, please email me first at the address below. I will typically respond within 24 hours. Filing a chargeback with your bank or card issuer without contacting me may delay resolution; I may provide your payment processor with records of our agreement, delivery, and communication.
How to request a cancellation or refund
Email jacequentin@gmail.com from the address we have on file. Include your business name, the date of payment, and a short description of what you are requesting (cancellation, deposit refund within the 24-hour window or before work started, etc.).
Changes to this policy
I may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date below will change when it does. For projects already underway, the version in effect when you paid your deposit generally applies unless we agree otherwise in writing.
